Handrails for PVC Railing Panels

We have had such tremendous success with our PVC railing panels. Our PVC Panels give you the look and feel of painted wood but with the durability and low maintenance nature of PVC, all while incorporating some classic and unique designs.

One common misconception is that these railing panels can stand alone as a complete railing system. That isn’t the case! Our PVC panels need to be installed between an upper and lower railing to provide the proper stability required for a railing system. The panels simply act as the infill of the railing.

So I wanted to take some time to answer a few of those common questions we often get, and the pros and cons for using one product vs. the other. We sell one railing system made by Deckorators® that we just absolutely love. The rail kit (which includes upper railing, lower railing, hardware and support blocks) can be found here.  This product is not made of PVC, but of a unique co-extruded material coined “CXT”. “Our co-extruded rails are made from two layers of scratch- and weather-resistant materials. CXT composite railing offers ultra-durable, ultra-low maintenance beauty and performance with the look of real painted wood—all while boasting our 25-year structural, stain & fade and removal & replacement warranties.”

Take a look at some of these projects that have used Deckorators railings with our PVC Panels!

There are some situations where, unfortunately, Deckorators® handrails will not work. These situations include screened in porches, spans longer than 8′, or railings that need to be painted. The Composite rail kit does come in 3 different colors: black, white and dark walnut. If you plan on painting the entire railing system a different color, our PVC panels can be painted, but the CXT products cannot.

So our second option for those who want to paint, have longer than 8′ spans, or are using these panels for a screened in porch, here is our alternate solution. We do not sell any of these components, but our solution is to build your own handrails out of wood, and even possibly capping it with a piece of low-maintenance decking or PVC. Here are examples of some projects where we have used wood and/or a low maintenance cap!
