Flawless, in both design and execution, the hip roof architectural structure of the original home was expanded to cover the entire depth of this screened porch. Upon close inspection, you would never know that this backyard addition was not a part of the original home. As you view the 3-car garage on the left of the new screened porch, you can see the roofline extends right on through to the new structure. One of the Porch Company’s signature architectural design goals – make the new construction look like it has always been there. On this project, we matched the framing between the garage and our new screened porch so you cannot even see the seam, creating an uninterrupted, harmonious look.
Detail-Oriented Design Features
Other noteworthy details on this screened porch exterior include a fully painted black exterior, complemented by a 6-step decking landing, crafted out of TimberTech AZEK decking, that comes with a 50-year limited fade and stain warranty
Known and often used because of its unrivaled design and performance, AZEK is a smart choice due to its durability and maintenance-free upkeep. With its sophisticated,real-wood aesthetics, it stays cooler on hot days, making it an ideal choice for outdoor stairs, decks, and landings.
The post sleeve, cap, and Newel posts on the stairway are our PorchCo Hermitage Sleeve and Cap Kit 2.0. This Porch Company Hermitage Sleeve and Cap Kit are made entirely from PVC – made to fit over a 4×4 or 6×6 post. As with our other PVC products, they will withstand the weather requiring very little maintenance, and they will last for years. Our beautiful PVC sleeves and caps look so stunning in their natural state of white or black, you may decide to enjoy them as is, but you have options. You can also paint them in the hue of your choice!
About Our Hermitage Sleeve and Cap Kits
The kit – which can also be painted if you wish – comes in two sizes:
1. Our smaller size ts over a 4×4 post, with outside dimensions of 4.75″ x 4.75″
2. Our larger size ts over a 6×6 post, with outside dimensions of 6.75″ x 6.75″
Heights come in 40” and 48”.
This Porch Company version 2.0 has a post skirt with a slightly more detailed design, so your skirt can t over the post anchor of your choice, should you need one. The beauty of this solution is that you will enjoy the look of painted wood with a low-maintenance product that will never rot.
Come Inside This Amazing Screened Porch
Once inside, you will marvel at the stunning porch floor made of tongue and groove Thermory Ash flooring. It’s natural wood that has been thermally modified to remove all of the sugars, which are the cause of decay in standard wood used outdoors. It is interesting that the manufacturing baking process turns the wood’s hue a rich, warm brown while increasing the wood’s durability and making it resistant to moisture. Those characteristics make it especially suitable for outdoor use.
Thermory floors offer drastically reduced moisture absorption, so the rain/sun cycle creates less havoc. Our Thermory floors are oiled before we install them, creating an instantly warm, comfortable-under-foot floor.
Its 25-plus-year rot resistance rating makes it a perfect choice for a screened porch floor surface.
Nashville Screened Porch Excellence By Design
Other highlights of the interior space include vertical aluminum balusters on the lower section of the screen walls, allowing the most viewing of the outdoors as well as airflow.
As the screened porch is only accessible from the home interior via a bonus room over the garage, the approach down to it is graceful and functional via a stunning spiralstaircase.It is crafted out of metal but the stair treads are also Thermory Ash to match the porch floor.
For ventilation and warmth when needed, the porch interior also features four ceiling fans, as well as Solaira heaters.
At the far end is a custom kitchen and bar area, making it unnecessary to go back into the house for refreshments and cleanup. Notice the use of the smokey, antiqued glass behind the bar area and the artificial turf (faux grass) used on the wall. Magical and whimsical, it brings the outdoors in.
