As we write this blog post, we are so impressed with the majestic beauty of it all that words somehow fail to explain how spectacular an effort this all was.
A Complicated Roofline Inspires A Beautiful Feature For This Screened Porch And Combination Patio Design
Always striving to meet and exceed the wishes and expectations of our Porch Company clients throughout the greater Nashville, TN, area, our client preferred to have their screened covered porch under the dormer area at the back of this Green Hills home.
To achieve this, our design experts perfected the layout of the combination porch outdoor living space using a flat roof. This was the intelligent way to avoid the complicated roofline of the home.
In keeping with our “smart thinking” philosophy, our team partnered with a hardscape planner who planned the surrounding garden and backyard landscape to help divert the water that flows across the backyard toward the home.
Furthermore, a French drain was also installed to facilitate excessive waterfall drainage for those heavy Nashville rains. With the lay of the land and the design of the multi-faceted outdoor space, dependable drainage was a priority.
Creature Comforts And An Eye For Details Make This Outdoor Space The Gem That It Is
Starting from the inside out, the floors within the screened porch interior are The Porch Company’s signature tongue-and-groove cypress flooring. With its stunning striations, it brings drama and depth to the space.
Looking upward, family and guests will enjoy the beautiful beams in the flat ceiling design. To provide ventilation comfort when needed, a large ceiling fan completes the top interior of the structure.
A perennial design favorite here in the south, gray shiplap was added for texture and visual interest on the interior where the brick wall is.
And when the warmth of the spring and summer seasons fade in autumn and early winter, a pair of Solaira infrared porch heaters provide just the right level of cozy comfort to dwell outside as long as the family wishes.
Speaking of cozy comfort, our always-popular Rustic Cottage swing bed was also installed inside a nook within the space, at a strategic location, to provide ample room to glide back and forth on a two-point rope system.
Not To Be Outdone By The Exceptional Porch Interior, The Outside Details Are Just As Wonderful
To enter this welcoming outdoor sanctuary from the backyard, our classic Sapele wooden screen door added the perfect natural hardwood accent.
For exterior illumination to guide visitors into the space, the light sconce is on the outside, pulling it away from the entry door as it is too close to an interior window. Again, it’s all about having an eye for details and functionality.
To complete this tale of outdoor living splendor, a knee wall constructed out of handsome beadboard was added as a feature. The use of beadboard here lends charm to the porch both inside and out.
